I’m a native “Buckeye” Ohioan/transplanted Californian.

My working years were a fabulous mix of public school teaching and “professoring” at a private college.  My main academic interest is U.S. History, ranging from the American Revolution to the struggles of women and minorities for equal rights.

As a writer, a much broader range of genres intrigues me besides the rigors of historical inquiry.  As an observer of human nature, I enjoy expressing myself on a wide range of topics.  I find literary creativity to be its own challenge and reward, doubly enriching when it is morally purposeful.

As the incomparable Frederick Douglass penned: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”  American democratic ideals inspire all that I do, say, and write—they forged the bones and sinews of my body and made me all that I am or can ever hope to be as citizen, teacher, and writer.

Our national ethos, our American character is special among all the countries of the world.  Our nation’s story, which began with the unparalleled courage of the American Continental Army’s surprise Christmas Day attack at Trenton, continues today!
