The Republican Party represents views that can only be described as culturally insensitive if not to say intolerant, streaked at times with prejudice: anti-women, anti-gay, anti-union, and generally anti-democratic in the extreme.

Their platform caters to the wealthiest and most conservative elements within our society.  In truth, their ideas are not so much the well-thought out principles of a party’s constituency as they are the desires of a wealthy and conservative elite within the top circles of the party.

The GOP appears less and less a political party responsive to the American people and much more like a clique responding only to the self-interests of a small group of extremely wealthy power brokers.  It has become the party of the millionaire-billionaires and apparently is no longer ashamed to say so publicly.

The two-party system is a great system when it works but it begins to break down when one of the two parties no longer upholds its commitment to the American people first and foremost.
